Hamburg port creates space for giant vessels

deepening

The video explains how Hamburg port decided to deepen the Vorhafen entry, which consists the gate to the turnover areas in Steinwerder. Through the deepening, the big vessels, such as containers and cruise ships, gain more space to maneuver in Tollerort.

Hamburg Port authority notes that docks nowadays should secure ease of access and transport safety and that the entrances play a very important role, as ships get constantly bigger.

The width restriction can be raised from 32,3 metres to 40 metres.
