India launches contingency plan and SOP for Indian seafarers’ safety

The Indian Government launched a mechanism to keep safe the Indian crew members on board Indian or foreign ships and sailing vessels especially in emergency situations like a pirate hijacking or fatal accidents. Shri Mansukh Mandaviya, Minister of State (I/C) for Shipping stated that the Ministry of Shipping has prepared a Contingency Plan and documented Standard Operating Procedures.

Japanese IHI to construct two LNG tanks in India

IHI Corporation, a Japanese engineer, received an order for an EPC of two above-ground tanks for LNG receiving terminal in India jointly with a major construction company in India, Afcons Infrastructure Ltd. The LNG-receiving terminal will have a storage capacity of 200,000 cubic metres per unit, which is the largest capacity in India, and completion is planned for 2022.
