IHI Corporation, a Japanese engineer, received an order for an EPC of two above-ground tanks for LNG receiving terminal in India jointly with a major construction company in India, Afcons Infrastructure Ltd. The LNG-receiving terminal will have a storage capacity of 200,000 cubic metres per unit, which is the largest capacity in India, and completion is planned for 2022.

Indian seafarers on board a ship that Indonesian authorities detained for five months, have claimed that they have been treated like criminals. Namely, the master and the crewmembers of the ship sent a letter to the Ministry of External Affairs, describing the challenges they are going through.

As the Maritime Anti-Corruption Network (MACN) announced, with support from the Indian Government it will launch a Port Integrity campaign in India. The campaign aims to reduce and in the future eliminate integrity issues, as well as bottlenecks during trade operations.

The Union Council of Ministers of India has given approval for the MoU between India and Maldives for the establishment of passenger and cargo services by sea, which was signed on June 8, 2019 during the visit of Prime Minister of India to Maldives.

The Indian Ministry of Shipping signed a Memorandum of Agreement with IIT Kharagpur for establishing the Centre for Inland and Coastal Maritime Technology at IIT Kharagpur. The centre will be a hub for latest technology tools for maritime sector and will reduce India's dependence on foreign institutions.

The Indian Ministry of Defence announced that the Indian Navy deployed two vessels in the Gulf of Oman to secure Indian flagged vessels, following the recent attack on two tankers in the region. The Ministry issued a statement noting that in addition to deploying the two vessels, Chennai and Sunayna, 'aerial surveillance by IN aircraft is also being undertaken in the area.'

Increasing the number of seafarers by boosting job potential will be one of the priority areas for the Indian Ministry of Shipping, said Minister Mansukhlal Mandaviya while speaking to local media, Tuesday. India is now one of the top suppliers for seafarers worldwide.

India’s Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) has moved a record high 35 offshore drilling rigs to new locations ahead of the Indian monsoon season. Aqualis Offshore, the international marine and offshore engineering consultancy announced that it assisted the offshore rigs' transmit. 

Reliance Industries Limited and BP announced the sanction of the MJ project in Block KG D6, offshore the east coast of India. MJ is the third of three new projects in the Block KG D6 and its approval comes after sanctions for the development of 'R-Series' deep-water gas field in June 2017 and for the Satellites cluster in April 2018.
