Ten people are missing after two Chinese-flagged cargo ships, ‘Chang Ping’ and ‘Xin Wang 138’, collided on Shanghai inner anchorage, in late night of 2 January, international media reported.
The ‘Chang Ping’ sank following the collision, and search and rescue operations were launched to rescue the 13 crewmen. Only three have been rescued so far, including the Chief Officer, and ten are remaining unaccounted for.
Both vessels were loaded with steel.
The rescue teams have dispatched ships, boats and a helicopter.
The top of ‘Chang Ping’ bridge remained above water, but the sunk vessel does affect ship traffic, as it sank outside fairway, according to MaritimeBulletin.
