A new report from HEMEXPO, Greece's marine equipment manufacturers and exporters association for the international shipping industry, outlines the ambitious targets the association has set to support the education and training of the next generation of marine equipment specialists.

A newly revised and updated IMO training programme is now available to assist developing countries in formulating and adopting their National Maritime Transport Policies (NMTPs).  

A fatal accident happened on board a Hong Kong registered bulk carrier when anchoring at the port of Kavieng, Papua New Guinea. All seafarers wanting to offer services for vessels in the deep seas of Kenya’s territorial waters will be required to be certified by the IMO and the Kenya Maritime Authority (KMA). The government says untrained persons will not be allowed to work onboard ships plying deep seas without certification.
