Growing regulation combined with societal pressure are leading companies that operate in process industries to benchmark the quality of their management systems against international best practice and performance. Such systems target zero carbon emissions to address global warming, zero accidents, zero waste, and zero use of non-renewable materials.

The Finnish Transport and Communications Agency (Traficom) has commissioned hydrographic surveys in the Vuoksi river system in eastern Finland to make navigation safer in the region. The work will be partly carried out by airborne surveys.

As the North P&I Club highlights, a recent incident that caused the deaths of ten people on board a vessel, has pinpointed the dangers of not fully understanding the operation of fixed CO2 systems. To prevent similar incidents, North suggests that it is critical for all persons involved to be aware of the risks.
