HMAS Ballarat, the Australian Navy frigate, seized more than 12.9 tonnes of hashish, 1.4 tonnes of heroin and a small amount of methyl amphetamines, with a combined worth of A$1.073 billion ($740 million). The hauls were seized in 10 separate seizure procedures; The last one took place on May 10, 2019.

TankerTrackers informed that there might be oil spill after the sabotage attack on the Saudi VLCC supertanker, Amjad. The alleged sabotage attack took place off United Arab Emirates territorial waters in the Gulf of Oman. The ship, Amjad, may was empty of crude oil, but it was carrying fuel oil onboard. The oil spill is no less than 235 barrels.

The Italian authorities seized the charity vessel 'Sea Watch 3', after 47 migrants disembarked at the Port of Lampedusa. After their rescue on May 15, off the Libyan coast, the migrants were transferred onto the island. Because the Sea Watch 3 was too big to enter Lampedusa, the migrants were transported to shore by the Italian customs police, the Guardia di Finanza, and the coastguard who boarded the vessel.

In light of London's marine insurance market meeting on Thursday, May 16, they decided to extend the list of waters deemed as high risk to include Oman, the United Arab Emirates and the Gulf after ship attacks off Fujairah, Reuters reports.

On Thursday, the Nigerian Navy handed over nine suspected pirates to the Interpol unit of the Nigeria Police, for allegedly possessing firearms and suspected crude oil within the Nigerian maritime domain. The suspected pirates included three Greeks, an American and five Nigerians.
