NTSB issued a report on the collision of the bulk carrier 'Yochow' with the articulated tug and barge 'OSG Independence' in the Houston Ship Channel, in June 2018. The report highlights poor bridge resource management as key cause of the accident and fatigue as a significant contributing factor. 

A towboat hit St. Louis' Eads Bridge on May 3, possibly because of increasing flood waters. According to USCG officials, the tugboat was damaged to its pilot house but there were no injuries. The bridge was not harmed neither. After the accident, USCG closed a part of the Mississippi to all ship traffic from mile marker 179 to 184,

A cruise ship that came into Canada Place in Vancouver Harbour on May 4th collided with another cruise ship. As Holland America stated, which owns both ships, they rubbed against each other while docking stern to stern. Despite the collision, no one was injured and passengers left the ship as planned.

In its latest safety digest, the UK MAIB describes a case of an offshore supply vessel collision with two smaller vessels, which sank as a result. MAIB stressed the master had checked the thrusters were working by observing pitch movement, but investigation indicated that the thrusters’ electric motors were probably not started.

A video widely shared on social media reportedly shows a Vietnamese coast guard ship hitting an Indonesian navy ship Monday, after the navy intercepted a boat it says was fishing illegally in its waters. Indonesian authorities detained 12 Vietnamese fishermen from the vessel.

On Moday, April 22, two ferries collided when voyaging in Sunda strait. The collision was between ferry 'Windu Karsa Dwitya' and  ferry 'Virgo 18'. From the incident, a crew fell overboard and is missing, one passenger was injured and transferred to hospital, on arrival to Merak.

About 22 months after it was involved in a heavy collision off Japan, the guided-missile destroyer USS Fitzgerald took another step toward returning to the fleet as a fully ready ship, as it successfully launched and moored pier-side at Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) - Ingalls Shipbuilding shipyard, on 16 April. 

In its latest Safety Digest, UK MAIB analyzes a ferry collision which caught everyone by surprise as the alarm was relatively quiet, and sounded only on the centre console. In this regard, MAIB recommended that a system to warn crew and passengers of a sudden stop should be available. 

The Antigua Barbuda-flagged general cargo ship 'BBC Amethyst' collided with a lock in the Kiel Canal in Kiel-Holtenau, Germany, in the early morning hours of Sunday, 7th April. The vessel was en route from Norrköping, Sweden to Rotterdam, Netherlands.

TAIC issued an investigation report on the collision of the passenger ship 'Seabourn Encore' with the bulk cement carrier at Timaru, on 12 February 2017, after its breakaway from wharf. The Commission found that the mooring failed because the bollards on the wharf failed.
