Mr. Steven Jones is currently a fellow at Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (The RSA) and a specialist in maritime affairs, consultant and writer as well. Mr. Steven Jones holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Chester. He spent a decade working as a navigation officer in the merchant navy and was attacked by pirates while serving. After shifting ashore he advised numerous shipping companies on security planning – spending years researching, applying and developing an in-depth knowledge of security and the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code.His primary focus is on the human element. He has worked across the maritime industry, within shipping companies, insurers, publishers and professional bodies and was a driving force behind the development of The Security Association for the Maritime Industry and the Private Maritime Security Standards which the association introduced.
