According to a recent statement, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) recently rescued an injured crew of a Chinese cargo vessel "MV Wuzhou 8" along the vicinity waters off Corregidor Island, Cavite. According to the initial investigation, on Sunday, January 12, a Chinese crewmember accidentally fell into the cargo hold and suffered a head injury while on duty.

On Thursday, January 9, the USCG rescued three crewmembers from the sinking 62-foot tugboat, Gulf Man, approximately 6 miles northeast of Andros Island, in the Bahamas. In fact, the tugboat was taking on water when a Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew arrived on scene and hoisted all three crewmembers and then transported them to Nassau, Bahamas; no injuries were reported.

In its latest investigation report UK MAIB focuses on a fatal incident concerning a skipper onboard a UK-registered fishing vessel ‘Artemis’ who fell head-first through an access hatch between the vessel’s wheelhouse and its mess deck 2.1m below, resulting to severe head injuries and died. The report notes that a significant factor of the accident was that the skipper was under the influence of alcohol.
