Maersk Tankers has entered an equity agreement with CargoMetrics Technologies, providing the company access and exclusive rights to CargoMetrics' analytical models, algorithms and capabilities. The agreement is cementing Maersk Tankers’ commitment to integrating digital solutions into the product tanker industry.

French energy company Total informed that it has acquired 100% of the equity of Maersk Oil & Gas, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Danish A.P. Møller – Mærsk A/S, in a share and debt transaction. The transaction is expected to close in first quarter 2018 and has an effective date of 1st July 2017.

Maersk announced its economic results of Q2 reporting increased profit due to continued recovery in the container market and focus on restoration of profitability despite the expected negative financial impact of  up to USD300m in Q3 from the cyber-attack in June. Søren Skou, CEO of A.P. Moller - Maersk commented on the Q2 earning, warned that the group expects disruptions for the forthcoming results due to 'NotPetya' ransomware cyber attack which led to predominant loss of business in July 2017. 

While on her maiden voyage, the 20,568 TEU “Munich Maersk”, currently one of the largest container ships in the world, berthed at EUROGATE Container Terminal Hamburg, on 5 August. The ship belongs to the second generation of Maersk Line’s Triple-E class and calls Hamburg as part of the AE5 service of the 2M alliance.

A Maersk-operated container ship went adrift off Aleutian Islands, Alaska, on Friday night, after she reportedly suffered fire in the engine room. On Saturday morning, Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation announced that the vessel was escorted to land safe.
