Propulsor manufacturer offers new calculation tool
The design engineer needs to know quickly which propulsion system, with which power rating and size, he can and must include in his project planning.
The exchange of information and data between the customer and the contractor therefore plays a major role here and this is where Schottel comes in and supports customers in their propeller configuration work by providing access to its HydrA design software.
The procedure is extremely simple and independent of the users operating system: the customer applies for access rights via the Schottel website. As soon as access rights are granted, the customer can log on. On the Schottel HydrA user interface, the customer can specify the propulsion system, number of propulsion units, input speed, input power, blade area ratio, propeller diameter, ship speed, wake fraction and thrust deduction fraction. A calculator then determines, without any commitment, figures for the power and propeller data such as thrust, torque, pitch ratio or propeller load.
Once the key data have been calculated, the user has the option of sending the form to the Schottel sales team, who will then get in touch with the customer.
