Mutual assistance in response to emergencies re oil and petroleum product spills
Vitaly Markelov, Deputy Chairman ofthe Gazprom Management Committee and Ravil Maganov, First Executive Vice President ofLUKOIL signed aCooperation Agreement onprevention ofand response toemergencies caused byoil and petroleum product spills inthe locations ofthe companies’ offshore facilities.

The companies agreed that incase ofemergencies related tooil and/or petroleum product spills, they would provide mutual assistance inresponse tosuch emergencies, with the engagement ofprofessional rescue services.
The document also stipulates the information exchange regarding the manpower and resources available totackle the emergency aswell asjoint consultations, exercises and training. Inparticular, Gazprom and LUKOIL are going toconduct joint emergency drill inthe locations ofthePrirazlomnaya offshore ice-resistant platform and the Varandey oil exportterminal before the year end.
“Our joint efforts are meant tobeasafety net tokeep the marine ecosystem healthy across the companies’ operation areas,”said Vitaly Markelov.
“The fact that LUKOIL and Gazprom cooperate inthis important matter isyet another example ofcompanies’ adherence tothe eco-friendly principles,”said Ravil Maganov.
Zero emergencies related tooil and petroleum spills have occurred since Gazprom and LUKOIL started their offshore projects. LUKOIL staged 140 land and sea oil spill drills, Gazprom Neft (backbone ofGazprom’s oil business)- 125 emergency exercises in2013. |
