On the occasion of the forthcoming RightShip vetting platform upgrade to RightShip Qi you are cordially invited to attend a presentation on The Use of Predictive Analytics in Ship Vetting.

The Use of Predictive Analytics in Ship Vetting is being presented to in advance of the launch of RightShip’s new predictive analytics platform, RightShip Qi. The benefits and value of utilizing predictive analytics to enhance safety will be discussed, along with new initiatives such as the predictive star rating, developing fleet lists and company reports, and utilizing alerts. The economic benefits of RightShip’s GHG Rating will be discussed, and an expert panel will take in the views and provide feedback on sustainability to the audience.

Warwick Norman, Chief Executive Officer, RightShip

img_warwicknormanWarwick has been Chief Executive Officer of RightShip since its inception in 2001. Under his stewardship, the company has become a global authority on maritime safety, helping shippers, terminals and ports, ship owners and managers and maritime finance organisations to minimise their maritime and environmental risk.

Prior to joining RightShip, Warwick was the Marine Standards Manager at BHP Billiton where he was responsible for ensuring the company adhered to national and international standards for Quality Assurance, International Safety Management and Safety and Environmental Protection.

Warwick began his seagoing career with ASP Ship Management, sailing from cadet to the rank of Master, and advancing to become Ship Manager and Marine Superintendent for the fleet of tankers managed by Shell, BP, Mobil and Esso. He is currently Chairman of AUSMEPA and has been a member of Lloyd’s Register Asia Advisory Committee since 2007.

Warwick was named an ‘Australian Export Hero’ in 2014 for his outstanding contribution to Australia on the international stage.

David Peel, Manager – Europe, Middle East & Africa, RightShip

img_davidpeelSince opening RightShip’s London office in 2007, David has significantly grown the European business expanding into new territories and now oversees seven vetting superintendents. Before joining RightShip, David was Deputy General Manager at Golar LNG. David has a strong background in maritime safety and quality with significant experience in Safety Management System recertification, tanker vetting, training and auditing, and conducting risk assessments of vessels and port authorities.

David has consulted on ISO 9000, International Safety Management, safety and quality and related auditing services to a range of companies including P&I Clubs, industry associations and various ship owners. He began his career with the P&O General Cargo Division and has served as a First Mate and Master on offshore supply vessels and salvage tugs.

Apostolos Belokas, Founder & Managing Editor, SAFETY4SEA – Event Facilitator

Belokas_Apostolos Belokas is a Maritime Safety, Quality & Environmental Expert, Consultant, Trainer and Project Manager with more than 20 year background in shipping as Technical, Marine, Safety & Training Superintendent and Consultant. He entered the industry back in 1992 as Engineering Superintendent with a leading ship manager operating a mixed fleet of bulk and oil/chemical tankers and later shifted to regulatory compliance and QHSE issues as superintendent and later as a Consultant and Trainer.

Apostolos has successfully completed a wide range of QHSE projects including 250+ management system projects (ISM/ISO 9001-14001-18001/TMSA/MLC), 500 vessel and office audits to various standards and he has trained more than 5,000 people in a wide variety of QHSE subjects. He is holding Mechanical Engineering Bachelor and Master’s specialising in Energy & Environment and Master’s Degrees in Maritime Business and Business Administration (MBA), all of them awarded with distinction.

Apostolos is the Managing Director of SQE MARINE & SQE ACADEMY and he is also the Founder and Managing Editor of SAFETY4SEA and GREEN4SEA.

RightShip in association with SAFETY4SEA has successfully held a couple of identical events on the use of predictive analytics in ship vetting on Tuesday, May 17th, 2016 in Athens Ledra Hotel, attracting 350 delegates from the vibrant Hellenic ship management community.

The event included a couple of presentations by Warwick Norman, RightShip CEO who introduced the new platform and gave a live demonstration of RightShip Qi’s attributes and functions and also explained the link between existing SVIS platform and the transition to new Qi platform. He also highlighted user-friendliness of the latest updates, as it enables the user to monitor and set alerts for activity such as rating changes and benchmark between fleets. Furthermore he analyzed the background of the predictive analytics engine and provided an overview of the changes to the RightShip star rating concluding by providing insight on how operators s may improve vessels’ star rating.

A third presentation has been provided by David Peel, RightsShip Manager for Europe, Middle East & Africa, on how to make sustainability pay, providing an overview of the GHG Rating and the reasoning behind charterers decision to use it to select ships and inviting operators to ensure that the data used for their fleets are up to date. He also referred to DNV GL Methodology behind the GHG Rating and outlined the financial benefits of the GHG Rating as published by the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research (University of Manchester, UK).

The event concluded with an open discussion between Apostolos Belokas of SAFETY4SEA, Warwick Norman, David Peel and the audience to provide feedback on sustainability and the role of predictive analytics in risk to the modern maritime environment.
