On June 11, MT Orkim Harmony, a small Malaysian flagged coastal tanker carrying a crew of 22 seafarers and a cargo of 6,000 metric tons of gasoline was hijacked just over 20 nautical miles off the coast of Malaysia.
Less than 12 hours after the attack on the Orkin Harmony, the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency was informed and a search and rescue operation was initiated. Over the next 6 days, 30 air and maritime assets from four countries were engaged to help locate the vessel.
