The UK MAIB has reported an incident happened onboard a small creel fishing vessel while self-shooting arrangement was used on the vessel to deploy its creels. The UK MAIB reports an incident where the master of a 129m general cargo vessel that traded between regular ports of call decided to follow the inshore, sheltered route, due to an adverse weather forecast. From that point on, there were multiple factors that caused the ship's grounding; among them, the fact that alcohol policies weren't backed.

Stern trawler capsizes in heavy seas

The UK MAIB in its latest Safety Digest reports an incident where a 17m stern trawler broached, capsized and sank about 100 miles off the north-east coast of England while on passage to its fishing grounds in heavy seas. Two of the crew were rescued about 3 hours later when the body of the skipper was also recovered; the other two crew have not been found.
